Nature Scavenger Hunt!

Who doesn't love a scavenger hunt? It all starts with an empty egg carton! We painted our carton Six different colors, (Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, &Orange) to make a color tray. Two sections for each color.

(This is my daughter decorating her collecting tray)
(Drying in the sun)

After allowing the egg carton to dry out on the porch, we went for a nature walk. My daughter is 4 and cannot read well on her own. So instead of making a list of items for her to read and find, we together looked for things that matched the colors on our tray. Making up our own "scavenger hunt" as we went along.

(Some of her treasure!)
(separating the items we found into different color piles.)

We collected grass, rocks, leaves, flowers & more! Finishing our scavenger hunt by counting which colors we found the most of, and separating all the colors into different piles. We had a lot of Green, Purple, & Yellow. Orange, Pink & Blue were very scarce! I wonder which colors we will have more/less of next time.

  1. That is such a great idea. Sounds like a fun way to pass a boring sunny afternoon :)
